Your questions, our answers
What’s the best way to store your envelope?
To keep your shipping packaging in as good as new condition even after extended storage, here are a few tips to follow:
Store in a cool, dry place: The ideal temperature is 18 – 20 degrees Celsius. Keep away from radiators or heating pipes. Humid environments can also damage the material and weaken the adhesive closures. The ideal humidity is 50–55%.
Store flat and stack carefully: Don’t stack the mailing bags too high, as this can cause them to warp. If you pile up too many envelopes, they may become misshapen or creased. Lay the mailing bags flat to prevent folds and creases.
Keep sealed properly: Dust on the adhesive reduces its sticking power. That’s why it’s best to keep your envelopes in their box.
Keep out of the sun: Avoid direct sunlight, as UV rays can fade the material. It’s best to store the bags in a dark place.
What should you know about shipping goods by mail?
The contents of the shipment must consist only of the goods and the documents associated with them, such as invoices. Personal messages are not permitted
NEW: The goods shipment is combined into one product weighing up to 1,000 g. A weight surcharge can increase the permitted weight to 2,000 g.
The item must be marked “Warensendung” above the address.
The shipment must not weigh more than 2 kg.
Deutsche Post reserves the right to open the shipment for inspection. We therefore recommend using sample bags or other resealable packaging, such as padded envelopes or small boxes. For easy opening and closing, we recommend closures such as tear strips, sample bag fasteners, cross bands, or rubber bands.
